President Dr. Joyce Banda has invited Lilongwe Vendors to Kamuzu
Palace in fulfillment of her promise to help them move forward in their
businesses.
Confirming the development to Malawi News Agency (Mana), Chairperson for Lilongwe Area 3 Market, Mussa Chimwala, disclosed that they had received an invitation from the State House during the day.
He said one of the issues that they would ask for from the President is that she should assist them with capital and a place where they could conduct their businesses.
“Our Area 3 Market is small to accommodate all of us and the structures are so old that they can collapse at any time. So, we will ask the President to assist us with new buildings and at least a conducive and clean place for business,” he said.
He added that the other thing that they wanted to be assisted with is electricity, portable water and also have the market with a good fence for security purposes.
“If we happen to have a fence at the market, this will help us be secured from theft. We will be able to keep our properties in our respective shops in the market,” said Chimwala.
